Sandies Surge to the Top of the 3-5A Baseball Race

As the halfway point of the District 3-5A baseball race nears, the Amarillo Sandies have moved to the top of the standings with solid pitching and an explosive offensive attack.  

Amarillo High is 5-1 in district play and is riding a five-game winning streak since dropping their opener at Lubbock Cooper.

In that five-game stretch, the Sandies have outscored their opponents 57-7, while  AHS pitchers have posted 3 shutouts. Among those shutouts was a no-hitter against Palo Duro, a one-hitter vs Caprock and a two-hitter vs Plainview. 

Amarillo High, which has an overall record of 13-6-1, will try to keep it going at Randall High on Tuesday. The Raiders are currently in a tie for third place at 4-2 and are 13-8 on the season.
