Round Two Between Canyon, Levelland Girls and Tascosa, Frenship Girls & Boys

The second District 3-4A meeting of the  year between girls basketball powers Canyon and Levelland is coming up on Tuesday. The two teams are still ranked 1 and 2 in the state just as they were on January 11th when they played in Levelland.  The Loboettes were the top-ranked team then, but after the Lady Eagles won 52-45, Canyon took over the top spot and pushed Levelland to number two. Both teams have already locked up playoff berths.  A win by Canyon will give the Lady Eagles the outright district title, while a Loboette win will put them on track for a co-championship with Canyon if both win out.

There are two other huge matchups in District 2-6A where Tascosa travels to Frenship.

The girls contest will break a first-place tie and give the winner the inside track to a district crown. The Lady Rebels won the first time the teams met in district play 61-57 at Tascosa.

In the boys game, Tascosa tries to hold on to first place in the district race, but faces a Tigers team which beat the Rebels on their home court a few weeks ago, 49-47.

Tuesday's schedule (girls and boys)

Tascosa at Frenship

Amarillo High at Monterey

Caprock at Lubbock Cooper

Palo Duro at Randall

Levelland at Canyon
