Randall Shocks Amarillo High in 3-5A Baseball

District leader Amarillo High suffered its second straight loss in 3-5A baseball on Wednesday, losing to Randall 10-4.

Just like last week in a 1-0 loss to Monterey, the setback prevents the Sandies from claiming the district title outright.  They will have one final chance on Friday, at Lubbock High.

Clinging to faint playoff hopes, Randall came out swinging in the battle of Bell Street, pounding out 18 hits, led by Hagen Escoto and Trey Franz, who had 3 hits and 3 RBI each in the win.

In other 3-5A games, Caprock closed out its season on a sour note, losing at home to Coronado 15-0.

Palo Duro had a similar result, falling to Lubbock High 13-2.

District 3-4A champ Canyon played a non-district game against Monterey and beat the Plainsmen 15-5 at Moegle Field in Lubbock. The Eagles broke open a close game with a 7-run 5th inning, punctuated with a 3-run homer by Zane Sparks.
