Palo Duro jumped out to a 10-0 lead but Caprock stayed patient and overcame the deficit to beat their cross-town rivals 41-29 on a windy and cold Friday at Dick Bivins Stadium.

The Longhorns took the lead for good late in the second quarter to take a 27-17 lead at halftime and then managed to hold off the Dons in the 3rd and 4th quarters to improve to 3-2 on the season and win the district opener.  PD falls to 2-3 overall.

Caprock's Tyrik Williams returned to the lineup after missing three weeks with a broken hand. He had a big impact by throwing for 170 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 83 yards and two scores.

PD's Dondray Degate threw for two touchdowns while Tony Green had two rushing touchdowns.

At Kimbrough Memorial Stadium, Canyon stayed undefeated with a 55-7 homecoming romp over Borger. The Eagles are now 5-0 on the season.

One week after upsetting Amarillo High, the Randall Raiders lost to 6A Frenship 34-27.  After falling behind 34-7, Randall made a big comeback before eventually falling.

Tascosa has a Saturday matchup in San Antonio with Brownsville Hanna. Amarillo High was open this week.
