Late 3rd Quarter Run Gives Canyon a Win over Tascosa

Tascosa managed to keep it close until late in the third quarter but Canyon pulled away for a 57-44 win in the final non-district game for both teams on Tuesday at Joe Lombard Gymnasium in Canyon.

The number one-ranked Lady Eagles jumped out to a 9-0 lead and held the lead throughout the contest. The Lady Rebels pulled to within three points midway through the third quarter but could get no closer.  Canyon went on an 11-4 run to close out the third quarter and kept a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Senior Carter Cluck led Canyon with 14 points and was the Exceptional Emergency Center Player of the Game. Bella Hayden added 11 points for the Lady Eagles, who improve to 20-1 on the season. 

The Lady Rebels were led by senior Jada Miller who scored 21 points. Aubry Johnson finished with 11 as Tascosa falls to 16-8 on the season. 

Both teams will start district play on Friday. Canyon hosts Estacado in 3-4A while Tascosa is at Midland Lee in 2-6A.
