Coming off an open date, the Canyon High basketball teams play at Hereford on Friday in a 3-4A doubleheader. The games can be heard live on the Texas Panhandle Sports Network at www.tpsnsports.com.

The number one-ranked Lady Eagles top the district standings at 3-0 and are 23-1 on the season. The Hereford girls are 18-7 overall under former Canyon assistant Bryan Lintner and are 2-1 in district play. Hereford lost to Levelland 32-30 on Tuesday.

The boys game between the schools should be entertaining. The Eagles edged Levelland in their district opener last Friday 55-53 in overtime to improve to 14-9 overall. The Herd come in with a 13-11 record and are 0-1 in district after losing to Levelland 47-39 on Tuesday.

In other games involving TPSN teams, Amarillo High girls and boys try to hold on to first place in District 3-5A as they host Plainview. Randall teams host Coronado and Caprock squads play at home against Monterey. Palo Duro teams have an open date.

After knocking Frenship out of a first place tie on Tuesday, the Tascosa Rebels will now head south to face 13th-ranked Odessa Permian for sole possession of the District 2-6A boys lead. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Lady Rebels, who try to bounce back after a loss at home to Frenship.
