AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Tascosa and Amarillo High volleyball open the UIL postseason with bi-district matches Thursday after meeting to close district play.
The Lady Rebels face Abilene High at 5 p.m. at Lubbock-Cooper Liberty. Amarillo High plays Wichita Falls Legacy at 6 p.m. in Childress. The Lady Sandies are looking to take their first step toward another deep playoff run.
Coming off district finale
The Lady Sandies beat Tascosa last Friday night. The Lady Rebels are looking to turn the loss into a learning experience.
Both programs played through their district schedules, and the focus now shifts to advancing. Tascosa is looking to apply lessons learned throughout the season. Amarillo High is starting fresh with a group that has not had much postseason experience.
Tascosa outlook
“I mean that’s something that we’ve talked to the girls about, like as long as we’re learning something, like we’re gonna get better, and so we’ve talked about kind of the pros and cons of that,” Tascosa head coach Carley McCracken said. “You know, I think it does put us in a little tougher situation as far as the playoffs.”
Amarillo High outlook
“The rest, this is kind of all new for them, and honestly that’s been beneficial for us,” Amarillo High head volleyball coach Haleigh Burns said. “It’s almost kind of like ignorance is bliss, and we are just playing volleyball and having fun, and whoever shows up, we’re ready to compete.”
