State medalists from May receive statewide recognition for season-long performance

13 area track and field athletes named to THSCA Super Elite teams 13 high school track and field athletes from the area have been selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite teams

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - 13 high school track and field athletes from the area have been selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite teams.

The THSCA Super Elite teams honor top high school athletes statewide. Professional members of the association nominate athletes for the teams. To be considered, athletes must meet specific award criteria. The honor recognizes sustained excellence throughout the season.

Joseph Dominguez of Canadian placed third in the 3200-meter run at state.

Canyon teammates Kelton Burgoon and Domenic San Miguel both won state championships and contributed to the Eagles’ first team title. Burgoon claimed the discus crown with a throw of 188’7″ while San Miguel won the 3200-meter run in 9:04.51 and established a new conference record.

Izak Dominguez from Hereford earned bronze in the 110 hurdles.

Jacob Erickson of Perryton collected two silver medals.

Parker Webb from Pampa finished second in 4A discus.

Brycen Williams of West Plains captured the first state meet gold medal in Wolves history with a high jump of 6′7″.

Aaron Phares from Tascosa was the only 5A selection.

Maddie Francis of Silverton broke the 100-meter hurdles record with a time of 14.53 seconds and finished her final season with two gold medals.

Madi Braden of Stratford placed third in 2A discus.

Distance runner Alexis Wade from Farwell earned silver in the 1600-meter run and took fourth in the 3200-meter run.

Addy Bristow of Canyon added three more gold medals to close out her career, winning the 800-meter run in 2:07.79 and the 1600-meter run in 4:59.96.

Freshman teammate Presli Pool won two events and set a conference record in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:26.73.
