AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Wolves are headed to the state semifinals after defeating Mineral Wells in the regional finals.

The Wolves showed resilience throughout the three-game series, bouncing back after a tough extra-inning loss in game one to win the next two games. The run marks the deepest playoff appearance in program history.

West Plains will face Pleasant Grove, a program familiar with postseason success and state championships.

Head coach Colby Chandler said the team’s mindset remains the same.

“At the end of the day, Pleasant Grove, they’re a good solid program,” Chandler said. “They won state in 2021 and they’re consistently making deep postseason runs. Last year, they made it to the state championship. And so they’re familiar with being in this spot. And that itself is a challenge, but ultimately, like I told our guys, we’re both high school baseball teams playing at this time of the year. We’re good, they’re good, and let’s go out and give them our best shot.”

The Wolves will start the best-of-three series Thursday against the Hawks at Riders Field in Frisco, Texas at 4 p.m. Game two will be Friday at noon. If the teams split those games, game three will start 30 minutes after game two.
