AUSTIN, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon’s track and field teams delivered dominant performances at the 4-A state meet, with both squads claiming championships.
The Lady Eagles tied for first place with 58 points, while the boys secured their first-ever state track title with 57 points.
State records fall
Freshman Presli Pool captured gold in the 3200-meter run, finishing in 10:26.73. Her time broke the previous 4A state record held by former Canyon athlete Hannah Stuart.
Junior Domenic San Miguel won the boys 3200-meter run in 9:04.51, finishing four seconds over nine minutes. His time surpassed the previous class record held by former teammate Lathan Lewter.

Pool’s record-breaking performance in the 3200-meter run led the Lady Eagles’ championship effort.

Oklahoma State commit Addyson Bristow won her third consecutive 800-meter championship, clocking 2:07.79. She finished just six-tenths of a second off the record time she set last year.
Bristow also claimed first place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:59.96. Pool added a second-place finish at 5:00.52.
The Lady Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team of Pool, Bristow, Aubrey Holloway and Reese Wilson won with a time of 3:50.09.
Michaela Sharber finished seventh in the 3200-meter run at 11:28.73.
Boys results
San Miguel’s record-setting 3200-meter run paced the boys to their first state title.

Noah Cooper placed third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:08.24.
Cooper also finished fifth in the 1600-meter run at 4:21.98 while San Miguel took sixth, finishing in 4:22.29.
Kelton Burgoon won the discus throw with a distance of 188-7. Colt Mckinley placed third at 166-4.
Emmitt Stewart finished third in the 400-meter dash at 48.30, while Baylor West took eighth at 48.72.
The boys 4x400-meter relay team placed second with a time of 3:16.04.
Aidon Tijerina finished eighth in the 800-meter run at 2:01.46.
