AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The UIL high school tennis state championships wrapped up with athletes from across the area bringing home hardware after a weekend of matches.
Several local programs made their mark across multiple classifications.
1A doubles champions crowned
In 1A boys doubles, Valley’s Carson Tucker and Damian Valdes won the state championship. The duo already has a state basketball championship.
In 1A girls doubles, the Brockman sisters — Madison and Kate Brockman — won the state title.
Randall takes 4A mixed doubles
Randall’s Kynley Craddock and Jensen Betzen captured the state title in 4A mixed doubles, topping the Canyon Eagles in the finals. The two Panhandle teams traded points throughout the match before Randall closed it out.
Amarillo wins 5A girls doubles
The Amarillo Lady Sandies won the 5A girls doubles championship. Olivia Hefley and Sara Shelhamer took the title after a tournament run.
