AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo High wrestler Bryson Brown will stay close to home and join the newest addition to area college sports, signing with Frank Phillips College.
Brown has been a prominent figure on the Sandies wrestling team all four years. He said he has dreamed of wrestling in college since he was 16 and understands the significance of joining a program in its first year.
“It’s a part of history. It’s going to be a good time,” Brown said. “Coach [Vasquez] said he’s really excited, wanting to start something new, get up there, make ourselves a name.”
Brown compared the journey ahead to climbing a mountain, saying the climb continues until reaching the peak.
He said Amarillo High feels like home after four years with the program.
“All these guys, they’ve been there for me day one,” Brown said. “My message is just have fun.”
