AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Tascosa girls soccer star Bellah Garcia signed with Eastern Oklahoma State College, adding her name to a growing list of Texas Panhandle high school athletes securing their futures in college athletics.
Garcia was on varsity for the Lady Rebels all four years, helping turn the program around and making the regional semifinals for the past three seasons.
Positive attitude sets Garcia apart
Head coach Hutton Sharp credited Garcia for always having a positive attitude, something that is hard to coach in a sport like soccer plus battling the Texas Panhandle weather during the winter.
“I think she’s one of the most positive players I’ve ever been around like in all of my time soccer coaching,” Sharp said. “I think she was almost always smiling, almost always enjoying every moment which really is a testament to her character because high school soccer seasons are played in the winter time where it’s cold and dark and windy. It takes a lot to be positive through all that.”
Garcia spent many moments on the pitch setting her teammates up for success. Now with some of her own on the horizon, she said she is happy about what her signing can do for the sport throughout the area and is thankful for her time as a Tascosa Lady Rebel.

“It means a lot. I think it also just means a lot to me because it’s just someone else from this area getting out there and playing soccer at the college level,” Garcia said.
Garcia said she had a good conversation with the coaches and connected with them, along with the campus and the team.
Tascosa experience prepared Garcia for next level
Garcia said her time at Tascosa prepared her for college by working with different levels of players.
“It’s prepared me by just being able to work with different levels of girls and so I can be better skilled and put that for my college experience,” Garcia said. “It has meant a lot. It’s very exciting to be here with all these wins and all these gold balls... it’s just been very special to win with my friends.”
Garcia said one of her favorite moments was winning a playoff game during her junior year when a teammate scored in the final moments.

“We won like almost last minute and one of my teammates scored like an amazing goal and it just meant a lot and we were all very excited,” Garcia said.
Technical skills praised by coach
Sharp said Garcia is one of the best ball users the program has ever had.
“She just has huge passing range and she would always play the right pass to the right player at the right time with the right speed and all of that kind of coaching stuff that we’re looking for,” Sharp said. “A player like that really sets her teammates up well for success. That is a really positive trait that Bella’s going to take with her to the next level.”
