TULIA, Texas (KFDA) - The Caprock Lady Horns were not able to punch their ticket to the playoffs Monday after falling 8-1 in the District 3-5A play-in game, finishing their season in fifth place in district.
The Lady Westerners scored four runs to get the scoring action started in the top of the third, and would go on to scoring four more runs to take an 8-0 lead.
Caprock’s lone run came in the bottom of the seventh after an RBI single from Annalei Valdez that scored Aria Sandoval.
Annalyse Gonzalez was the starting pitcher for the Lady Horns, forcing one strikeout but four runs and four hits in 2.1 innings pitched.
She was relieved by Grace Morales, who also recorded a strikeout but allowed four runs off six hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
Caprock finishes their season with a 17-13-2 overall record.
