CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Carson Allen went 3-for-4 with a home run to lead Canyon baseball past West Plains 10-6 at Double Eagle Park, while West Plains scored three runs in the ninth inning to defeat Canyon 6-3 in softball on Friday.
With the wins, Canyon takes sole possession of the District 4-4A lead (11-1) while West Plains drops to second (10-2); West Plains finishes tied for second in the district (10-4) alongside Canyon and Randall.
Baseball: Canyon 10, West Plains 6
Allen hit a home run, triple and single to power Canyon to a district victory over West Plains.
Canyon scored first in the opening inning when Levi Turner drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
West Plains tied the game at one in the second when Boston Ladd singled to center field on a full count.

The Eagles broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the second. Allen hit a two-run home run to right field, Turner doubled in a run and Jake Doak added an RBI double to make it 5-1. Canyon extended the lead to 7-1 in the third. Reece Baca doubled to center field and Allen singled to the left side of the infield, each driving in a run.
Pitching performances
Bayler Schilling got the win for Canyon, allowing three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Keegan McCulloch earned the save and Brixton Lindley also pitched in relief for Canyon.
Reid Macon took the loss for West Plains, pitching two and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
Offensive leaders
Canyon collected 15 hits: Andrew Bellino and Allen each had three hits; Turner, Doak and Baca each had multiple hits.
West Plains finished with nine hits: Ladd went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, Elijah Vasquez led West Plains with three hits in four at bats and Jesse Flores added two hits in four at bats.

Both teams have home games for their next district contests on Tuesday. Canyon welcomes in Pampa while West Plains will host Borger for the second-to-last district games of the regular season.
Softball: West Plains 6, Canyon 3 (9 innings)
West Plains scored three runs in the ninth inning to rally past Canyon in extra innings.
The Wolfpack took a 1-0 lead in the fifth when Emory Chancler doubled in a run. Tegan Beck extended the lead to 3-0 in the seventh with a solo home run to center field.
Canyon tied the game in the bottom of the seventh after Ellie Mitchell hit a home run to left field to knot the score at three.
West Plains broke through in the ninth. An error allowed one run to score, then Jaylen Kaps singled to push the lead to 6-3.
Pitching performances
Kaps earned the win for West Plains, going the distance while allowing five hits and three runs over nine innings with five strikeouts and one walk.
Brooklynne Garrett took the loss for Canyon after pitching nine innings, giving up 12 hits and six runs (one earned) with five strikeouts and no walks.
Offensive leaders
Kaps led West Plains with two RBIs and went 3-for-5 at the plate. Beck, Bella Wineburg and Chancler each had multiple hits.
Mitchell drove in two runs for Canyon and went 1-for-4, leadoff hitter Miley Brown had two hits in four at bats for the Lady Eagles.
