AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Lubbock broke open a close game with a seven-run explosion in the sixth inning Saturday, rolling past Palo Duro 13-3 behind a 16-hit offensive barrage.

Charlie Hendrix got the visitors on the board early with a solo shot to left field in the second inning. Lubbock extended the advantage to 3-0 in the third when Reagan Teachait and Genaro Carillo each delivered RBI singles.

Sixth-inning onslaught buries Dons

The game remained competitive until Lubbock buried Palo Duro with seven runs on seven hits in the sixth. Hendrix sparked the rally with an RBI triple before Denzel Robins ripped a two-run double. Carter Meadows followed with an RBI double, and Isaiah Trevino, Teachait and Zeke Torrez each contributed run-scoring singles to cap the decisive frame.

Carter Meadows earned the victory on the mound, scattering six hits and allowing three runs over six innings while striking out eight. Hunter Braddock absorbed the loss for Palo Duro, surrendering eight hits and seven runs over five frames.

Offensive leaders

Lubbock’s attack was relentless, with Carillo pacing the offense with three RBIs on a 3-for-4 performance. Both Carillo and Hendrix collected three hits apiece. Trevino, Teachait and Meadows also recorded multiple hits as the visitors turned one double play.

Urijah Nase led Palo Duro with two hits, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Bryce Lomeli-Dela Cerda and Nase each drove in one run for the Dons.
