AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - West Plains and Randall split a pair of games Friday, with West Plains taking the baseball contest 8-5 and Randall claiming a 1-0 softball victory on a walk-off home run.

Baseball: West Plains 8, Randall 5

West Plains scored first in the third inning when an error plated one run.

Randall rallied in the bottom of the sixth with five runs on three hits. Diego Flanagan hit a three-run home run to left field, and an error brought home two more runs.

West Plains answered in the top of the seventh to break the tie. Elijah Vasquez delivered a two-run single, and Urijah Barrera followed with a single to push the lead to 8-5.

Noah Vasquez picked up the win in relief for West Plains. He allowed one hit and one run over one and one-third innings. Reid Macon got the start for West Plains, giving up six hits and four runs over five and one-third innings while striking out three.

Johnny Noriega took the loss for Randall Varsity Raiders. He surrendered six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one.

West Plains collected 11 hits. Alakai Carrillo and Vasquez each had three hits for West Plains, batting back-to-back in the lineup. Vasquez and Vasquez each drove in two runs. Jesse Flores added two hits in three at bats.

Flanagan led Randall Varsity Raiders with three runs batted in, going 1-for-3 at the plate. Adam Trevino and Tegan Nickelberry each had two hits for Randall Varsity Raiders.

Softball: Randall 1, West Plains 0

Randall Lady Raiders won in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 walk-off victory over the West Plains Lady Wolves, Tatum Gibson hitting a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie.

Both teams had strong pitching performances.

Alyssa Navarrete started for the Lady Raiders and threw a complete game. She allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 10 without issuing a walk.

Jaylen Kaps started for West Plains and allowed two hits and one run over six innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Gibson led Randall at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run batted in. Brooklynn Diaz led West Plains Varsity Wolves with two hits in two at-bats.

What’s next

West Plains will face Dumas on Tuesday in both baseball and softball.

Randall baseball and softball will travel to Pampa on Tuesday.
