Area baseball and softball teams climb state rankings as postseason nears

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - As the postseason approaches, high school baseball and softball rankings continue to show changes, with several teams from the viewing area either staying consistent or climbing the list with strong performances from the past week.

Baseball rankings

In Class 5-A, the Amarillo High Sandies remain in the pack at No. 16 with a 10-1 district record.

In Class 4-A, two Panhandle teams are making noise in the rankings. The Canyon Eagles now sit at No. 12 in the state, with the West Plains Wolves right behind them. Both teams sport 8-1 district records.

In Class 1-A, the Nazareth Swifts continue to hold strong in the polls.

Softball rankings

Only two teams from the viewing area are part of the conversation at the top of their classifications.

In Class 4-A, the Dumas Demonettes continue to remain at the top of the state. No team has yet defeated Dumas, which boasts an 11-0 district record.

In Class 3-A, the Childress Lady Cats moved up from last week and now hold the No. 2 spot in their classification.
