CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon defeated Randall in both baseball and softball on Tuesday, with the baseball team winning 6-2 and the softball team securing a 5-4 victory.

Baseball: Canyon 6, Randall 2

Randall got on the board in the second inning after Tegan Nickelberry grounded out, scoring one run. An error extended the Randall lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning.

Canyon tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Levi Turner and a sacrifice fly by Braden Cooper.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Canyon went back into the lead after Andrew Bellino walked, Turner and Jake Doak singled, each scoring one run.

Bayler Schilling led things off on the bump for Canyon. The righty gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Brixton Lindley tossed two innings of no-run ball for Canyon in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.

Adam Trevino started on the mound for Randall. The southpaw gave up six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out three and walking five.

Turner led Canyon with three hits in three at bats. Doak and Schilling each collected multiple hits for Canyon. Carson Allen led Canyon with two walks. The team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.

Trevino and Diego Flanagan each collected one hit for Randall. Nickelberry led Randall with one run batted in.

Canyon will travel to Dumas for their next game on Friday while Randall heads to Pampa for their next game on Tuesday.

Softball: Canyon 5, Randall 4

Canyon got on the board in the first inning after Ellie Mitchell singled, scoring two runs.

Randall jumped back into the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Tatum Gibson singled and Kaley Wiseman doubled, each scoring one run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Canyon went back into the lead after Ashlynn Reyna doubled to center field, Addison Ralston doubled and Isabella Quintanilla grounded out, each scoring one run.

Brooklynne Garrett earned the win for Canyon. The hurler allowed seven hits and four runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out none and walking two.

Alyssa Navarrete started the game for Randall. The starter surrendered four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out two and walking three.

Bayleigh Burks and Mitchell each collected two hits for Canyon. Quintanilla, Mitchell, Ralston and Reyna each drove in one run for Canyon.

Wiseman led Randall with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Gibson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Randall in hits.

Canyon will travel to Dumas for their next game while Randall welcomes in West Plains, both on Friday.
