CANYON, Texas (KFDA) — The Canyon Lady Eagles have won three straight games and sit at 8-2 in District 4-4A play heading into Tuesday’s matchup with No. 24 Randall at Double Eagle Park.

Canyon has defeated Pampa, Hereford and Perryton in the second half of district play.

Coach credits senior leadership

Canyon head coach Styler Haddock said the team’s seven seniors have provided leadership for the younger players.

“We have seven seniors and they’re really good leaders,” Haddock said. “I think that experience and them being in that locker room for three or four years, the younger ones are really able to gravitate towards them and they’re able to keep them in, keep them in spirits like, hey, it’s a grinding season and you guys got to be able to do that. I have the faith in them and I think they have the faith in themselves to know that if they have a little bit of fun and play fearless, good things will happen to us.”

Second meeting with Randall

Canyon defeated Randall 6-3 on March 13 in the first meeting between the two teams this season. Randall is coming off a loss to Dumas.

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m. CST.
