AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Dumas Demons rode a dominant pitching performance to a 4-0 shutout victory over Randall on Friday at Randall High School. Blake Robinson and Diego Perez combined to blank the Raiders, with Perez inducing a fly out from Noah Cuellar to record the final out.
Dumas broke through in the third inning when Juan Carlos Corona hit a sacrifice fly to plate two runs and give the Demons a 2-0 advantage.
Robinson dominates on the mound
Robinson earned the win, scattering just two hits over six and one-third innings while striking out eight and walking two. Perez closed out the game in relief to preserve the shutout.
Johnny Noriega took the loss for Randall despite a strong effort, going seven innings and allowing four runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.
Corona and Perez each drove in one run for Dumas. Colton Mills, batting ninth in the order, showcased the depth of the Demons’ lineup by leading the team with two hits in two at-bats. Dumas played error-free defense, with David Pena making eight plays in the field.
Braylen Preciado, Brekken Ireland and Tegan Nickelberry each collected one hit for Randall. The Raiders also played error-free baseball, with Jaxton Pond making nine plays.
