AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Wolves put together a complete performance Tuesday, rolling past Pampa 10-1 behind strong pitching and timely hitting. Noah Vasquez paced the offensive attack with three hits, including a double and two singles.
The Wolves wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, plating a run in the opening frame when Elijah Vasquez delivered an RBI single. West Plains tacked on two more in the second inning, capitalizing on a Pampa error and a groundout from Noah Vasquez to build a 3-0 advantage.
Third inning surge breaks game open
West Plains seized control with a four-run explosion in the third. Kade Schneider drove in a run with a base hit before Jesse Flores came through with a two-run single. An aggressive steal of home capped the rally, giving the Wolves a commanding 7-0 cushion.
Flores dominated on the mound as well, blanking Pampa over four innings of work. The starter scattered just two hits while striking out one and walking one to earn the victory. The bullpen trio of Ethan Griffin, Zhane Estrada and Hunter Weiss kept Pampa off the board the rest of the way.
Balanced attack, flawless defense
The Wolves finished with nine hits and wreaked havoc on the basepaths, swiping seven bags. Flores drove in a team-high two runs while Alakai Carrillo and Kaden Hooker each recorded multiple stolen bases. West Plains played error-free baseball defensively, turning two double plays with Carrillo leading the way with five putouts.
