AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo College baseball swept Clarendon in a Thursday doubleheader, winning 12-2 and 6-2 behind dominant pitching performances from Aiden White and Brayden Gurney.

Game one: Amarillo College 12, Clarendon 2

White struck out 14 batters to lead the Badgers in the opener. The pitcher gave up one hit and two runs over six innings while walking three.

After Clarendon took early leads of 1-0 and 2-1, Amarillo College tied the game at two in the third inning on a single by Gabe Compton. Matthew Tellez gave the Badgers the lead for good with an RBI double in the fourth.

The Badgers put the game away with six runs in the sixth inning. Luis Gonzalez homered to right field to score two runs, and Dylan Ray singled to drive in two more. Amarillo College amassed 13 hits, with Rowin Donaldson going 3-for-4 to lead the team. Ray and Gonzalez each drove in two runs.

DeCarlo Delancy went 1-for-2 and led Clarendon with one RBI.

Game two: Amarillo College 6, Clarendon 2

Gurney dominated on the mound in the nightcap, striking out 16 batters over eight innings. The starter surrendered five hits and two runs while walking none.

Clarendon scored two runs in the first inning on a triple by Jaden Menjivar and a groundout by Delancy. Amarillo College took control in the fifth inning with home runs by Compton and Axel Chasak. Compton drove in four runs on the day, including a three-run homer.

Brooks Carter, Jaykenn Marrero and Jatniel McCloud each collected two hits for the Badgers. The team drew eight walks and stole three bases. Carter made 17 plays in the field without committing an error.

Delancy and Zach Moore each collected two hits for Clarendon.
