AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon and West Plains split a pair of games on Tuesday, with Canyon rallying to win 4-3 in baseball while West Plains shut out Canyon 1-0 in softball.
Baseball
West Plains opened the scoring in the first inning after Elijah Vasquez singled, scoring two runs. West Plains added one run in the second after Noah Vasquez singled down the left field line.
Canyon captured the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth when Bayler Schilling homered to left field scoring two runs, and Andrew Bellino singled scoring one run.
Schilling, who started at Pitcher for Canyon, surrendered five hits and two earned runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Brixton Lindley tossed three innings of scoreless ball for Canyon in relief. The hurler allowed three hits, striking out two and walking one.
Jesse Flores started the game for West Plains. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking six.

Schilling led Canyon with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3. Levi Turner, Schilling and Bellino each collected one hit for Canyon.
Elijah Vasquez led West Plains with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3. Noah Vasquez led West Plains with three hits in four at bats. Alakai Carrillo collected two hits for West Plains in four at bats.
Softball
West Plains grabbed an early lead, scoring one run on a solo home run in the first inning.
Jaylen Kaps and Izabella Wineberg each collected one hit for West Plains. Kaps led West Plains with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3.
Brooklynne Garrett started in the circle for Canyon. The pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over six innings, striking out 10 and walking one.
Miley Brown, Faith McGuire, Bayleigh Burks, Ellie Mitchell and Ashlynn Reyna each collected one hit for Canyon.
