Molloy reaches milestone
The victory was the 100th career win for Tascosa head coach Yancy Molloy, who credited the players he has coached throughout his career for the achievement.
“It goes down as my achievement, but it started with the boys in Oklahoma, and then at Clarendon I got a lot of wins over there, and then this Tascosa team finished it off,” Molloy said. “It’s a testament to the guys I’ve coached. I wish I could say it was my achievement, but I didn’t get the win. It means a lot to me, and I wouldn’t trade the teams I’ve had for anything. I get the number, but they did it for me.”
Molloy also said the team responded well after a difficult previous week.
“We stumbled a little bit last week, and I just challenged them to come out and play like I knew they could, and they did a good job,” he said. “They let Friday go and came out and played like a whole other ball team.”
The two teams are scheduled to meet again Friday.
