AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Lubbock-Cooper defeated Palo Duro 15-0 Tuesday, amassing 17 hits while holding the Dons to just two hits in the shutout victory.
Lubbock-Cooper got on the board in the first inning when Bentley Seeberger singled and Cole Harshall doubled, with a Palo Duro error allowing two runs to score. The Pirates extended their lead in the second inning on a single by Ryan Rodriguez and a double by Seeberger before adding four more runs in the third on doubles by Barrett Reno and Seeberger and a triple by Harshall.
Rodriguez, Seeberger and Reno each collected three hits for Lubbock-Cooper. Rodriguez, Jadrie Salinas and Reno each drove in two runs.
Wyatt Haire earned the win for Lubbock-Cooper, allowing no runs on two hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Domanik Mata took the loss for Palo Duro, allowing seven hits and seven runs over two innings.
Hunter Braddock and Mata each collected one hit for the Dons.
Palo Duro travels to Lubbock-Cooper on Friday for a rematch.
