AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Lady Wolves will open bi-district play Thursday against Mineral Wells, the same opponent the program faced in its inaugural playoff season.
The match is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. CST at a neutral site in Lubbock.
Coach eyes offensive adjustments against Mineral Wells defense
Head coach Amberlee Gerald said the team expects a defensive challenge from Mineral Wells.
“We know that they’re going to be very tough defensively,” Gerald said. “They run a very tight defense, they run a very strategic defense, and we know that we’re strong offensively. There’s little things, little challenges that we’re going to have to critique and kind of figure out different ways that we may be able to do them.”
Gerald said the mental side of the game will be a factor.

“How do we get over that mental game of if what we usually do isn’t working, how do we try something new?” Gerald said. “What else are we going to try? How are we going to see the field better and see the gaps better so that we can start knocking those goals and be successful with it?”
History favors West Plains in this matchup
Mineral Wells was also West Plains’ first playoff opponent in school history. The Lady Wolves won that meeting 8-0.
