CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - For three years, Kambrie Graser has been a starter for the Canyon Lady Eagles. Through district battles and now playoff season, she has been a key asset in the lineup and a leader in the locker room.

“It means a lot, just knowing that my hard work is paying off and other people can see that. It’s just really nice to feel,” Graser said.

Coach’s perspective

Head coach Tate Lombard said the recognition is well-deserved, not just because of her basketball skills but because of the growth he has seen since her freshman year.

“We have a lot of great kids here that play for us and go to Canyon, but Kam is one of the best. She does so many things at a high level and leads our program. We’re so excited that she’s been honored with this award. She’s always been super talented. Her work ethic has grown every year. Her passion for the game, her love for her teammates, and her willingness to get better...she’s been a leader for us this year and we’re excited about what’s next for her, but also the remainder of the season,” Lombard said.

Looking ahead

When her high school career comes to a close, Graser hopes to take everything she has learned from Canyon to the next level.

“I want to leave just being a great teammate. I know I’m super talented and I know that I want to be able to rub off onto the younger players for them to want to be like me, just like how I was with some of the seniors my freshman and sophomore year. I hope to carry the hard working stuff that we do, all the drills that lead into it. I just want to carry that into my college career,” Graser said.

Graser will play basketball at Lubbock Christian University next season.

Accolades

Graser has accumulated a long list of honors throughout her high school career. She is a two-time TABC All-State and All-Region player, a two-time THSCA Super Elite Team member, a district MVP and a Newcomer of the Year award recipient.

She also maintains a 4.0 GPA.
