DIMMITT, Texas (KFDA) - The Happy girls basketball team earned a coveted playoff spot Thursday night with a 42-24 victory over Lazbuddie in a play-in game at Dimmitt.
The third meeting between the two teams this season determined which squad would advance to the postseason.

Happy took control in the second quarter when Lynnlea Johnson found Celia Middleton for a midrange jumper that gave the Cowgirls the lead.
Bela Ramirez extended the advantage with a three-pointer from the wing, giving Happy more breathing room.
Lazbuddie responded when Brynlie Cleavinger hit a turnaround shot to keep the Lady Horns in contention. The senior followed up by getting a steal on the defensive end and taking it the other way for a basket off the glass.

Happy’s chemistry showed late in the game when Johnson found Ramirez for another three-pointer from the same spot, extending the Cowgirls’ lead and putting the game away.
The Cowgirls will play Hartley in the bi-district round Monday at Tascosa High School.
