CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The #2 Canyon Lady Eagles secured a district championship after taking down the Lady Wolves, 67-24, while the #16 West Plains Wolves beat Canyon 61-50 on the road.

Kambrie Graser led the Lady Eagles with 26 points in the home win to secure the district championship and a number-one seed in the playoffs.

Canyon head girls basketball coach, Tate Lombard, said he’s proud of his athletes for what they have done this season and is ready for the postseason.

“I thought we played really well tonight, shared the ball well, guarded very tough, and had a lot of kids step up and play well,” he said. “I feel like we’re playing some of our best basketball right now. We’re excited to start the playoffs next week. We got to play our best every night out and this team has a high ceiling and we’re still trying to reach it.”

Haven Wheeler for the Lady Wolves finished with 11 in the loss.

Perryton and West Plains will now play for the fourth and final District 4-4A playoff spot on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. CST in Stinnett.

Canyon finishes first, Hereford is second, while Randall takes third place overall.

On the boys side, it was a hard fought battle throughout, but the Wolves came out on top and spoiled senior night with the 11-point win, securing the series sweep and staying undefeated in district play.

Wolves’ senior Kaden Hooker led all scorers with 22 points in the win, including six made free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Clayton Wilcox finished with 15 in the loss for Canyon.

The Wolves are now 12-0 in district play and in first place, while Canyon remains in second place with a 9-3 district record with two games left on the schedule.
