AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Randall Raiders star Garrett Splitt will continue his football career at West Texas A&M, adding his name to the list of area players joining the Buffs.
Splitt, who plays both defensive end and tight end, helped guide Randall to a 10-3 record and two gold balls this past season.
“Feels amazing. I mean, it’s everything I’ve dreamed for since I was a little kid, and just feels amazing,” Splitt said.
His motivation comes from a personal source.
“My motivation is definitely my daughter. She has motivated me 110% and she just gave me that extra step to do what I need to do,” he said.

Splitt moved to Amarillo before his freshman year, creating challenges early in his high school career.
“I was really starting over. I had no idea what Amarillo was like, and it’s just a whole new experience. And I think that was a giant hurdle for me,” he said.
His choice to stay local was influenced by family and the program itself.
“I chose WT because it’s close to home, stay near my daughter, and I love the coaches and how they welcome me, and I think it’s a great program,” Splitt said.

Randall head football coach Dan Sherwood praised Splitt’s impact on the program.

“Couldn’t be happier and prouder for Garrett for what he’s getting to do to live his dream, to play at the next level, play local. And I couldn’t be prouder to have been your coach,” Sherwood said.
“Thank you for everything you did for our program, your leadership, your growth. You showed everybody what a true raider is supposed to be, and you left your mark on this place. We couldn’t be more thankful for you for that.”
