GRUVER, Texas (KFDA) - The Gruver boys basketball team is one of the only undefeated teams left in the Panhandle as they continue the second half of district play.

The Greyhounds are currently 12-0 overall and 7-0 in district. They most recently picked up wins over Sanford Fritch and Sunray and have a chance to go undefeated in district play again.

While they have not played as many games as other teams this season, head coach Brittin East said his team will continue to improve.

“I feel like we got a lot better. We got a, we can get a lot better. We’re still not shooting great. We’re starting to shoot better in practice, which is a good sign. I think it’s going to start coming soon, but I really feel like when we start shooting the ball well, we’re going to be just a really, really dangerous team. And that goes back to how we defend. We defend really, really well,” East said.

Upcoming schedule

The Greyhounds have a road matchup against the Spearman Lynx on Saturday. They will then host rival Stratford Elks next Tuesday.

Gruver will have two road games after that, traveling to Vega and Stinnett, before finishing the regular season at home against the Sanford Fritch Eagles.
