AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - With the regular season ending soon, area high school basketball teams continue to hold strong positions in state rankings across multiple classifications.

Girls rankings feature multiple area teams

In girls basketball, Tascosa sits at No. 6 in Class 5A while Amarillo High holds the No. 17 spot. The two teams will meet for the final time this Friday night.

Canyon Lady Eagles rank second in Class 4A.

In Class 3A, Bushland Lady Falcons are No. 22, two spots above district rivals Dalhart who are No.24. The teams play again on Dalhart’s floor on Feb. 6.

Panhandle remains the top Class 2A girls team in the state. Gruver and Wellington both rank in the top 20 at No. 11 and No. 17 respectively.

Three teams appear in Class 1A rankings. Nazareth holds the highest position at No. 3, followed by Silverton at No. 17 and Kress at No. 25.

San Jacinto Lady Patriots maintain their No. 4 ranking in TAPPS 2A.

Boys teams also well-represented

On the boys side, Tascosa is the lone Class 5A team in rankings at No. 23.

West Plains represents Class 4A at No. 17.

The undefeated Gruver Greyhounds sit on the Class 2A podium at No. 3 through 11 games. Farwell rounds out the top 10.

Texline holds steady at No. 4 while Valley moves up to No. 12. McLean and Nazareth sit six spots apart at No. 18 and No. 24.

Holy Cross ranks as the second-best team in TAPPS 2A with Ascension at No. 9.
