AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Six Texas Panhandle quarterbacks have been nominated for the 2025 Quarterback of the Year award, which recognizes top performers across all high school classifications during the regular season.

Five players were nominated for the award after winning the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Quarterback of the Week award throughout the regular season, one of them being a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Editor’s Choice.

Fans can vote here and cast unlimited votes for the Quarterback of the Year award, with voting ending February 6.

Class 5A nominees

Two Class 5A quarterbacks from Amarillo represent the Panhandle.

Deuce Reese of Palo Duro earned his Week 6 nomination after Palo Duro defeated Wichita Falls Memorial 48-6. Reese threw for 243 yards on 15-of-18 passing with four touchdowns and rushed for 28 yards. He recorded two tackles on defense.

Jett Lopez of Amarillo High received his Week 10 nomination during Amarillo High’s 47-7 victory over Lubbock High, a game later forfeited and recorded as a 2-0 loss. Lopez threw for 252 yards on 12-of-20 passing with six touchdown passes distributed among four receivers. His six scoring passes contributed to a new Amarillo High single-season record with 28 touchdown passes through nine games.

Class 3A nominee

Jacob Trevino of Tulia earned his Class 3A nomination following Tulia’s Week 3 victory at Sanford-Fritch, 63-46. Trevino completed 26 of 33 passes for 404 yards and seven touchdowns to three receivers.

Class 2A nominees

Broxton Robinson of Panhandle earned his Week 2 nomination in a 61-19 victory over Stratford. Robinson rushed 21 times for 178 yards and four first-half touchdowns while completing 14 of 16 passes for 196 yards and another score. He added 11 tackles and one sack on defense.

Cayde Winters of West Texas High received his Week 4 nomination following a 65-13 victory at Tulia. Winters completed 10 of 12 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 14 times for 214 yards and five touchdowns. He recorded five assisted tackles and one solo tackle on defense.

Briggs Satterfield of Gruver earned a Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Editors Choice nomination. Satterfield led Gruver to a 12-3 record and second consecutive state semifinals appearance while throwing for 2,682 yards and 38 touchdowns and rushing 192 times for 1,086 yards and 24 touchdowns. He recorded 10 tackles, one interception and four pass deflections on defense.

Voting details

The weekly program selects one quarterback from each classification to receive a virtual Panini America trading card. At the end of the regular season, fans will vote to determine the Quarterback of the Year from all weekly winners.

The program runs throughout the 2025 regular season, with weekly winners eligible for the year-end fan vote.
