HEREFORD, Texas (KFDA) - The District 4-4A run is neck and neck right now, and the Hereford Whitefaces put their hat in the race after picking up their first district win over Borger Friday night on the basketball court.
The Whitefaces only return one starter this year after graduating eight seniors, so this season has been a climb.
Now that they have their first district win, they can build off that momentum for the rest of the season.
Road test against Perryton
They go on the road to face Perryton next, and Whiteface head boys basketball coach Nik Brown said they need to be at their best to get a win.
“Yeah, they’ve got shooters all over the place and David’s a great coach and he’ll always have them ready to go. We just got to come out and play to the best of our abilities and try to get it done and we’ll see what happens. It’s always one of those things where, you know, basketball is a game of night, so if shots are hitting, if our defense is flying around and being active and we come ready to rock’n’roll, then we’ll have a good time for sure,” Brown said.

The two teams face off Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Perryton following the girls game.
District standings
The Rangers are still looking for their first district win after falling to Canyon, West Plains and Pampa.
Hereford will look to move up in the standings and a win Tuesday will do just that.
The Whitefaces won both meetings last season against Perryton, the first by 14 and the second by nine.
