AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon ISD rivals West Plains and Randall split their basketball doubleheader on Friday night, with the Randall girls winning 51-29 and the No. 17 West Plains boys defeating the Raiders 65-53.
Girls game
The Lady Raiders dominated their contest against West Plains.
Kennah Thomas scored on a contested shot from inside the key after spinning back to her right on a drive to the paint.
West Plains responded when Evalee Baum found Dakota Montoya on the wing for a three-pointer.
The Lady Raiders quickly answered back as Carmella Guerrero drove strong to the basket before finding sophomore Reese Haggard wide open in the corner for another triple.

With the 22-point victory, Randall advances to 4-1 against district opponents.
Boys game
The boys game featured two undefeated district teams, with both No. 17 West Plains and Randall entering at 2-0 in District 4-4A.
West Plains got the scoring started immediately after the tip when Ayden Larra drove inside the arc, drawing the defense before finding Kaden Hooker open at the top of the key for a three-pointer.
Randall tried to match the offensive pace as Braylon Thompson used a drive-and-kick play to set up Eddie Cruz for a long-range triple from well beyond the arc.
The game turned into a shootout, with Larra connecting on a transition three-pointer to help West Plains pull away.
West Plains handed Randall its first district loss while remaining undefeated in 4-4A with the 12-point victory.
