CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon High School senior Noah Cooper signed to run track and cross country at Harding University.

Cooper has been part of the historic Canyon track and cross country teams for the last three seasons, winning three state team titles with the Eagles in cross country in all three seasons he ran at the state meet.

This past year, he came in third place at the cross country state meet individually.

In April, the Eagles came in fifth place as a team at the track and field state meet and Cooper placed sixth in the 3,200-meter race.

Cooper said choosing Harding was an easy choice and he knew being part of the team would benefit him in the future.

“I chose Harding University for the community aspect and because I’m able to contribute to Harding,” Cooper said. “I think it’s a big deal that I’m able to go into the team as a freshman. I’m able to contribute as a runner and I went on a visit last spring and all the guys are very welcoming and they were just great guys to me and the coach is just a great person and reminds me a lot of my coach here.”
