AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - In high school hoops, teams are in the beginning stages of district play. Some teams used the regular season for the challenges ahead, and Randall Raiders is one of them. The team is building off experience gained from previous games as a way to build for a tough district run.

After a pre-district stretch of learning and growing, Randall is facing a new landscape of their team this year. With losing several seniors from last year’s team and coming into this season with a young squad, they are keeping their mindset focused on staying positive throughout the course of the season.

Now having two district wins under their belt against the Dumas Demons and the top-25 ranked Canyon Eagles, the Raiders have shown glimpses of confidence and competitiveness as they continue the season.

Head coach Trevor Johnson noted that playing early season opponents has prepared them for the tough matchups they will face within the district.

Challenging schedule pays dividends

“We’re playing in the top tournaments in the state of Texas, and we’re playing really good opponents night in and night out to prepare us for this district 4-4A because there’s no nights off in this district,” Johnson said.
