AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After finishing third in the district last season, the Lady Rebels are back on the field ready to go to even higher heights in this new season. With many returning athletes back and a chip on their shoulder to go beyond where they ended last year, it fuels their confidence walking into this upcoming season.

Head coach Hutton Sharp makes it known to his team to leave the past in the past and focus on setting their sights to higher goals this year.

Competitive spirit drives team

“We have a super ambitious group and they are, they compete for everything, they fight for everything, they want to win everything, no matter what it is we’re doing. If it’s a soccer game and training or something that we’re doing as a practice activity, they want to win that,” Sharp said.

Sharp emphasized the team’s focus on the future rather than past success.

“I tell them, look, you know, the past is in the past. We’ve had a great last couple or three years, but like, this is a new year and they are extremely excited about that,” he said.

“We’re shooting to go for as high a finish as we possibly can. And we’ve got the players and the talent, and I think the kind of program set up to really make that happen. So I’m excited to see what we can do.”

Schedule ahead

They start the season at the Irving Tournament from Jan. 1-3.

A few days after that, from Jan. 8-10, they will play at the Frenship Tournament.

Right after the tournament games, they go straight into district play with Plainview as their first order of business, on Jan. 13.
