CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Canyon swept Perryton in district basketball action with No. 1 Lady Eagles defeating the Rangerettes 69-19 and No. 23 Eagles beating the Rangers 67-42.

Lady Eagles dominate Perryton

Canyon’s Kambrie Graser led all scorers with 32 points and surpassed 1,000 career points during the victory.

In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, Perryton continued to execute offensively. Brooklyn Kile found Mallee Vela on the wing, and Vela drove inside for a short jumper.

Canyon responded with Reese Wilson creating space before finding Townli Wheeler. Wheeler worked through the Perryton defense for a layup.

With time running out, Perryton’s Brookleah Daugherty connected on a three-pointer off a dribble handoff from Linely Castanon.

The Lady Eagles’ early lead proved too much for Perryton to overcome despite the late scoring efforts.

Eagles control Rangers

In the boys game, Canyon got early scoring from Jordan Webber, who finished a fast break with a layup in the first quarter.

Perryton answered when Cooper Schilling found Easton Limas open in the corner for a three-pointer to put the Rangers on the board.

Later in the quarter, Canyon tried to feed Cal Munsell in the post, but the pass was too far. Hansen Williamson attempted to keep the ball in bounds but it ended up in the hands of Perryton’s Jaxten Castanon, who converted the layup.

Canyon’s defense created opportunities as Schilling lost the ball while trying to split a double team. Jesiah Aquallo pushed the ball ahead to Slaton Contreras for a layup.

The Eagles controlled both ends of the court to secure the victory.
