AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The West Plains Wolves have already made a name for themselves on the basketball court. Last season, the program made huge progress on the hardwood, making a run all the way to the regional semifinals.
Head coach Kendall Cogburn is excited for yet another run, especially with this team this year.
Building on breakout season
“Last year was really a really good season for us, kind of a breakout season. I’ve been proud of just the success we’ve had since we’ve been here,” Cogburn said.
“One of the big things, year one was making playoffs, we wanted to win a gold ball, didn’t get that done, but won a couple of those in year two, got to the regional semifinals in year three, and now I’m just excited.”
Cogburn praised his team’s composition and character.

“We’ve got a lot of veteran experience, and bigs that are a little bit younger, but they’re coming on and playing really good,” he said.
“It’s a blessing to coach these guys, and they’re a lot of fun to be around, and a really good group of kids, and just a special group of kids that are a lot of fun to coach.”
West Plains starts their district run on Dec. 22 against Hereford at home. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. CST.
