AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Two Amarillo High softball players made their college decisions official when Brylee Baker and Braylee Shuffield signed their National Letter of Intent to continue their careers at the next level.

Baker is headed to Galveston College and Shuffield is playing for Wayland Baptist. Both athletes are four-year varsity players, while playing for the Lady Sandies and helped win the team multiple district titles.

The two softball standouts said the environment and team from each school helped with their decision on where they wanted to attend.

“My decision, it was really pretty easy. The coaching staff there is amazing and they’re so welcoming. On my visit they just did nothing but just make me feel like I was already a part of the team,” Baker said.

“I think I really just liked the school and I like the environment that it had and it just had the degree I wanted to go to and I just thought it was a good opportunity,” Shuffield said.

Both players expressed gratitude for their time at Amarillo High.

“Amarillo High has meant everything to me. It’s given me all my best friends, the best memories. Pretty much just all four years in general. It’s just meant a lot,” Baker said.

Shuffield added, “They’ve really influenced me to be a better person and always strive to be my best, just keep going when things get hard and people will always have your back.”
