AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Area high school basketball teams are making their mark in state rankings across multiple classifications, with 22 teams earning spots in the top 25 of their respective divisions.

Girls basketball rankings show regional strength

In 5A, first-year head coach Zac Tabor has the Tascosa Lady Rebels ranked second. The Amarillo High Lady Sandies sit at ninth, while the Palo Duro Lady Dons hold the 21st spot.

Canyon, who represents the lone 4A team in the rankings, lead the way as the top-ranked team.

Two 3A teams earned recognition: the Dalhart Lady Wolves at 12th and the Canadian Lady Cats at 24th.

The Panhandle Lady Ettes top the 2A classification. Their district opponent Wellington Lady Rockets rank 22nd, while the Gruver Lady Hounds are positioned 18th.

Three 1A schools made the rankings. The reigning DII champions Nazareth Swiftettes hold third place. The Silverton Lady Owls, with a 10-1 record, rank 16th, and the Kress Lady Roos maintain their 24th position.

Boys teams also earn state recognition

Ten boys teams from the area earned state rankings.

Amarillo High ranks 22nd while Palo Duro sits at 24th.

The West Plains Wolves hold 17th in 4A, with the Canyon Eagles directly behind them.

Farwell and Gruver sit one spot apart in their respective rankings in 2A. The Greyhounds have yet to begin their season after their football team concluded recently.

Texline leads area boys teams at fourth in 1A. Nazareth ranks 17th, followed by the undefeated McLean Tigers at 8-0. The Valley Patriots, seeking another state tournament appearance, hold 25th place.
