TEXLINE, Texas (KFDA) - The Texline Lady Tornadoes girls basketball team is working through their season as they prepare for district play.
The Lady Tornadoes had a strong season last year, taking first place in District 3-1A after going undefeated against district opponents.
The team was dominant in the playoffs, making it to the regional finals before falling to Nazareth, the eventual state champions.
Texline head girls basketball coach Dawson Nicholson said he is trying to instill a bigger picture perspective in his athletes this season.
“I want us to enjoy the journey,” he said. “We’ve enjoyed the things outside of basketball probably as much as we have inside of basketball. So I want our kids to enjoy it. I want to enjoy it myself. I want our community to enjoy it, and that’s what I’m most looking forward to.”
The Lady Tornadoes are back in action Dec. 19 facing Canadian on the road. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CST.
