AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Tascosa Rebels swept a Class 5A district doubleheader against Lubbock High, with the boys winning 71-45 and the girls posting a commanding 90-7 victory.

Boys pull away in second half

The Rebels boys controlled their contest from early on.

Demarcus Gilmore drove to the basket and found Ty’Zavien Collins inside before Collins passed back to Gilmore at the top of the key for a three-pointer.

Ben Kenney provided key contributions throughout the game. After Collins missed a three-pointer from the wing, Kenney secured the offensive rebound for a putback layup.

Kenney later attacked from the corner, driving to the middle for a layup off the glass.

The Rebels maintained their offensive pressure in the second half. After forcing a turnover on the inbound pass, the ball found Kenney at the top of the arc, where he maneuvered through traffic for another layup as Tascosa pulled away for the 26-point victory.

Girls showcase depth in blowout win

The Lady Rebels controlled both ends of the court throughout their contest.

Alex Carter led the girls team with 21 points that included an early three-pointer off an assist from La’Kenzee Dickson.

Nic’Kiyah Fisher contributed 14 points and a coast-to-coast layup after grabbing a defensive rebound in transition.

Analia Humphry added 15 points while Devaeh Johnson scored 11 points.

Johnson also provided key offensive rebounds, missing her initial putback attempt but staying with the play to convert a contested second attempt off the glass after Macaiah Garza’s corner three-pointer missed.

Dickson finished with 10 points, while Sims and Emerson Plummer each contributed 6 points.

Garza added 5 points and America Vega scored 2 points in the victory.

The 83-point margin highlighted the second-ranked Lady Rebels’ depth and execution on both offense and defense.
