AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Caprock Longhorns picked up their second straight district win Friday night, defeating Lubbock High 38-7 and moving closer to a potential playoff berth.
The Longhorns scored 31 unanswered points before Lubbock High managed a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Caprock dominated on both sides of the ball throughout the game.
Head coach Rowdy Freeman said his team is hitting their stride with only a few games remaining in district play.
“I’m really excited about where we’re at,” Freeman said. “We were able to put two good weeks together in a row. Kids are playing hard...kids are playing fast...kids are playing confident, and it’s translating. A couple of really good weeks in a row. Feeling good about ourselves right now.”
The Longhorns face a big rivalry game Thursday night when they take on Tascosa at Dick Bivins Stadium. A win for Caprock would keep them in playoff contention, while the Rebels are looking to bounce back from a tough loss last week.
