STINNETT, Texas (KFDA) - The West Texas High Comanches have been putting in the work this offseason to prepare for this season.
Head coach Jeff Smith is in year three at the helm, continuously promoting good chemistry and a good family bond.
His son, Deacon, is a senior on this team. He says playing for his father has helped their bond.
“He’s good with everybody, good with me...we all learn from him,” he said. [If] we have mistakes, he helps us correct them. I can’t ask anything more from him."
Coach adds on.

“It’s great for the family side of it when you get to coach your own, but [Deacon] will tell you as much as anybody else...all the boys out here, I treat them just like they’re mine too,” he said.
Senior quarterback, Cayde Winters, was a sophomore when Smith was hired. He says Smith has made a difference for this team.
“He really turned things around...turned the culture around,” Winters said. “He holds us accountable. He does everything right that he needs to do.”
