CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Former Amarillo High basketball star Zach Brown will be joining his dad and the West Texas A&M men’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season.

Brown’s dad, Buffs head coach Tom Brown, said in an announcement:
“I’m extremely fortunate to welcome my son, Zachary Brown to our squad. It has been a lot of fun watching him play the last few years at Amarillo High School. He excelled and played his role for Coach Pillion and the Sandies. Zachary sees plays developing two or three steps ahead and has a very good understanding for the game. He does a great job of making others around him better. He can also play defense and is willing to do it. Offensively he moves the ball, shoots at a high clip and can finish around the bucket. We are getting an outstanding player and person in Zach Brown.”

Zach Brown now get to team up with another former Amarillo High standout again — his older brother T.J., who red-shirted for the Buffs last season.

During his time as a Sandie, Brown was a three-year varsity starter and racked up 98 career wins.
His 1,396 points in that time makes him the second leader scorer in Amarillo High history.
