BORGER, Texas (KFDA) - Dane Hamrick has only been at Borger for two full years, but, the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs in both seasons.
This year, he looks to build on the foundation he’s created, and that starts with the kids out on the football field.
It’s a bittersweet feeling when senior year rolls around. It means there’s one last time to play under the Friday night lights.
“Being a senior is is a pretty fun experience, but at the same time, [it’s] kind of emotional,” said Ulises Castaneda, a senior wide receiver/defensive back/kicker for the Bulldogs’ football team.
Being a senior means Castaneda has an even bigger opportunity to step up and lead.

“I’ve learned that I’m a really hard worker...just be positive and show a lot of effort and just have a positive mentality and be a good role model for other people,” Castaneda said.
Hunter Randles understands that he has a bigger leadership role as the starting quarterback for two straight years, even though he’s just a junior.
“I plan to just play my heart out every game and to drive, not just myself, but everybody to play with their full potential,” he said. “I really think this group...we can do that.”
Now, in year three, Dane Hamrick understands it’s time to turn the corner.
“The goal that I’ve told our parents and our kids is take the next step, whatever that is,” said Hamrick. ”How do we turn our losses into wins this next year? How do we turn our wins into bigger wins? Biggest thing to me...I always tell the kids if they believe in themselves as much as we believe in them, they have no idea what they can accomplish.”
