AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo High Lady Sandies volleyball is gearing up for the new season and 2nd year under head coach Haleigh Burns.
In her first season after coming in from Randall, Burns and the Lady Sandies had a successful year.
They finished with 37-7, 18 straight wins to end the regular season, a perfect 16-0 record against District 3-5A opponents and capped off with a trip to the regional semifinals.
Now going into her second season, Burns is returning six starters and says the process of getting another year started is a little bit smoother this time around and is ready to get things started.
“ I think this year’s difference is understanding,” Burns says. “Coming into a job, there’s a lot of pressure, you got to do all the things, and I felt we’ve been a little more relaxed, and we understand each other so my girls know what to expect, my coaches know what to expect.”
It’s a good thing we get some scrimmage time before to just work through the things, and with new faces on varsity it’s a good way to get kids acclimated to this varsity volleyball. It’s big girl volleyball, and so I’m excited.
